Parent activities at Hamraskóli
There is a targeted effort to increase dialogue with parents and strengthen their involvement in school activities. Each school has an operational parent association, parent council, or school council.
Hamraskóli Parent Association
Hamraskóli has an active parents' association aimed at supporting school activities, promoting student welfare, and strengthening home-school connections. Each school's parent association defines its own rules of operation, including the election process for its board and the selection of representatives to the school council. Within each class, two class representatives are elected from among the parents, and their role is to promote greater cooperation between parents and students.

School policy for parent cooperation
Good cooperation between homes and schools is one of the main prerequisites for the successful education of children. Hamraskóli staff emphasize that cooperation must be built on mutual trust and respect. Parental support plays a vital role in the school's operations, and parents are encouraged to actively participate. Special emphasis is placed on enhancing cooperation between parents and schools, working closely with the parent association and Hamraskóli staff. The development of a cooperation plan between schools and homes will be finalized with the goal of formalizing and improving collaboration.
Consultation meetings/parent meetings
Parents and students are invited twice a year for discussions with teachers, covering topics such as academic progress, student well-being, attendance, and social skills. Additional meeting times are available by arrangement. Parents and teachers may also exchange information via email.
Orientation meetings for parents
At the beginning of the school year, orientation meetings are held for parents. The meetings review, among other things, teaching approaches and other practical matters related to school work.
